On May 21st, Dutchess County SPCA participated in Hudson Valley Gives: a 24-hour day of giving dedicated to supporting the incredible work of local nonprofits. It was an inspiring day fueled by generosity, compassion, and a shared commitment to helping those who need us most.
This year, we set an ambitious goal: to raise $50,000 in just one day for our Emergency Animal Rescue Fund. This fund plays a vital role in our work. It allows us to respond immediately when animals are in crisis, whether due to abuse, neglect, abandonment, or other urgent situations.
We’re thrilled to share that we exceeded our fundraising goal—and even more exciting, Dutchess County SPCA was awarded 1st place in Hudson Valley Gives for receiving the largest number of online gifts out of all participating nonprofits!
This incredible achievement was only possible because of supporters like you. We’re overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who stepped up to help the animals in our care. Your generosity and compassion continue to make a life-changing difference.
Thank you for standing with us—and with them.
Due to the support we received during Hudson Valley Gives, we can continue to offer swift, life-saving care to animals who have nowhere else to turn. Your donations ensure that we’re ready to act when the moment comes. We can continue to be ready to rescue, to heal, and to offer hope.
Throughout the day, we shared stories of animals whose lives were forever changed thanks to this fund and the compassionate people who support it. These animals remind us why this work matters, and why your support is so powerful.
If you missed any of the stories we shared, don’t worry. We’ve gathered them all for you to revisit:
Kisses’ story began in a place of fear, abuse, and neglect, but you wouldn’t know it from the way she wags her tail today.
Thanks to our Emergency Animal Rescue Fund, Kisses received the medical care she needed, as well as the patient, compassionate support to begin healing emotionally too.
She still takes her time to trust, but once she does, she’s full of love.
Kisses didn’t get a fair start in life, but with the right care, she’s learned how to love again. Now, she’s ready for her forever home.
Your support makes transformations like this possible.
By donating to the Emergency Animal Rescue Fund, you help animals like Kisses get a second chance at life and love.
When Jango arrived at DCSPCA, he was in need of help. His fur was matted, he was diabetic, and he was too sick to use the litterbox. It was clear he had been suffering.
Thanks to our Emergency Animal Rescue Fund, Jango received the critical medical care, grooming, and attention he desperately needed. Slowly, he began to heal both body and spirit.
Today, Jango is unrecognizable from the cat who first came through our doors. He’s healthy, handsome, and full of personality. He loves to play, socialize, and greet staff with gentle meows.
Jango’s transformation was only possible because of supporters like you.
Bailey is one of the longest-term residents at DCSPCA. He’s only 6 years old, but he’s spent most of his life in and out of shelters, waiting for someone to finally choose him.
Bailey adores people, and the feeling is mutual. Every day on his walk, staff members stop to say hello, offer ear scratches, and share a moment of love with this sweet, playful boy.
Despite his gentle nature and loyal heart, finding him a home hasn’t been easy. Thanks to our Emergency Animal Rescue Fund, Bailey has a safe place to stay, expert care, and people who won’t give up on him.
It’s your support that makes this possible.
To everyone who donated, shared our posts, or simply helped spread the word—thank you. You made a difference. And together, we’re making sure every animal has a chance at the life they deserve.
With gratitude,
The Dutchess County SPCA Team

Wow, the drive and passion behind this fundraiser clearly made a huge impact. Seeing a community come together for animals in need is truly heartwarming and inspiring. I remember a Friday Night Funkin game jam that aimed to raise awareness for charity; supporting a cause and feeling the collective energy reminds me of this. When like-minded people unite, their compassion can genuinely spark change and hope.
