December 2, 2025 marks Giving Tuesday and a season of reflection. Today, we want to recognize the kindness that keeps our work moving forward and express our gratitude for the way our community steps up to support pets and the people who love them. Your generosity helps us provide compassionate, affordable care to animals in our shelter and to families throughout the region.

We’re highlighting the impact of our Community Clinic, sharing a real story of a pet who needed and received essential care, and showcasing how your support can help us reach even more neighbors and their pets who rely on these services. With your help, we can continue strengthening the connection between pets and their people by keeping quality care within reach for all who need it.

Together, we can create brighter future for the animals of Dutchess County and beyond.

You may know actor William Sadler from unforgettable roles in Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and Die Hard 2, but he’s also a dedicated supporter of animals. To kick off Giving Tuesday, he’s sharing a special message with all of us!

Community Clinic Impact in 2024

At Dutchess County SPCA, we believe every pet deserves compassionate and affordable veterinary care. Our Community Clinic provides wellness exams, vaccinations, and treatment for minor illnesses so pets can stay healthy and remain in the homes they know and love.

In 2024:

  • 1,241 families were helped through our Community Clinic.

  • 543 animals were spayed or neutered.

  • 283 animals in our community were trapped, neutered, vaccinated, and returned.

With your support, we can reach even more pets and families who rely on us. Your gift helps us expand our ability to provide care throughout Dutchess County and ensures more animals get the help they need.

When Zoey came to our Community Clinic, she needed help. When her owner saw the potential bill for Zoey’s yearly vaccinations at their veterinarian’s office, they debated foregoing the treatments all together due to the high cost. Zoey’s owner cared deeply for her, but the rising costs of care had her weighing essentials like rent and utilities against important preventive vet visits.

Thanks to our Community Clinic’s accessible and affordable care, she received the vaccines she needed to stay healthy and continue a long and happy life.

Stories like Zoey’s happen every day. With your support, we can expand our reach and help even more pets and families who depend on us.

Every dollar makes a difference.

Many families in our community face barriers to accessing veterinary care, and their pets still deserve to live healthy and comfortable lives.

By expanding our capacity and resources, we will be able to:

  • Serve more families who struggle to access care

  • Provide earlier interventions that prevent emergencies

  • Support more pets so they can remain healthy at home
