This October, the Dutchess County SPCA is proud to participate in Empty the Shelters, a nationwide adoption event sponsored by the BISSELL Pet Foundation. Our shelter is full of loving animals waiting for homes, and now is the perfect time to welcome a new furry family member.
From October 1–15, 2025, adoption fees are reduced to help more pets find their forever homes:
$60 adoption fee for kittens, cats, puppies, and dogs
Half-off adoption fees for small critters like rabbits & guinea pigs
This special adoption rate gives more families the opportunity to adopt while helping us make space for the many animals still in need of shelter and care.
How to Adopt
All adopters must have a pre-approved adoption application before meeting animals. This helps us ensure the best possible match between adopters and pets, setting everyone up for success. If you haven’t applied yet, you can submit your adoption application today here. Once approved, you’ll be ready to take part in Empty the Shelters and bring home your new best friend!
Why Adopt Now?
Every adoption not only changes the life of the pet you welcome home, it also makes room for another animal in need of rescue. By choosing adoption, you are saving lives and helping us move closer to the goal of truly emptying the shelters.
Join us this October and make a difference. Your forever friend is waiting.
