This tiny Chihuahua rules the roost in her dream home.
Katie and her partner were searching for just the right addition to their pack of two humans and one (small Chihuahua) dog. They didn’t see an appropriate match when they looked at all the adoptable dogs on DCSPCA’s website, so they submitted a general application, letting our adoption team know what type of dog they hoped to bring home. Soon after, they got the call they were waiting for. Sprightly little Gidget won them over with her playful personality and adorable underbite. Before long, she was part of the family, and they’ve been a happy pack ever since.
DCSPCA: How did you find out about Gidget?
KATIE: My partner and I were looking for another Chihuahua to add to our pack! While there weren’t any available at DCSPCA at the time, we were able to get on a list of interested “Chi” people for next time. A few weeks later, they called to say she was available, and we rushed over to meet her.
Gidget won them over with her playful personality and adorable underbite.
DCSPCA: When did you know you wanted to adopt her?
KATIE: As soon as she was let into the play yard with us, she rolled over and asked for tummy rubs. She was so sweet and cuddly right away! Between that and the adorable underbite, it was a done deal.
DCSPCA: How did she settle into her new home?
KATIE: She and our older Chihuahua took a couple of days to get used to each other. After that, they quickly became inseparable.
Before long, she was part of the family, and they’ve been a happy pack ever since.
DCSPCA: What are some of her favorite activities?
KATIE: Protecting us from the vacuum cleaner, having intense wrestling matches with her bigger pet housemates (she fights dirty and bites their armpits! Ouch), and lounging in front of the fireplace.
DCSPCA: How has adopting her changed your life?
KATIE: She has brought so much joy and wild puppy energy into our lives. She gets along with everyone and unites all our pets. From her two dog brothers to our cat and three pet rats.
“She gets along with everyone and unites all our pets.”
DCSPCA: Is there anything else you’d like to share?
KATIE: She’s the toughest dog we’ve ever known. She weighs seven pounds and won’t back down. She’s also perfectly “sample-sized,” and her dog clothes are the most ridiculously tiny things I’ve ever seen.
